Missy was my beautiful grey cat with yellow eyes, a playful temperament, and a shy spirit. She was always curious about what I was doing and loved to press her boundaries. Whether it was watching me get ready for work or following me to the bathroom.
But one day, Missy disappeared and her behavior began to change. She started becoming distant and hiding all the time.
I was missing my Missy!
She began drinking more water than usual and began to lose weight despite having a good appetite. Concerned, I took her to the veterinarian for a check-up, where she was diagnosed with diabetes.
At first, I was worried about how I would manage Missy’s condition. Knowing that diabetes was a serious disease that required careful management, and am concerned about the cost and the time involved in caring for a cat with this condition.
With the help of my veterinarian, Missy and I learned how to manage her diabetes effectively. I learned how to administer insulin injections, and how to monitor her blood sugar levels at home. I also made changes to her diet, feeding her a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet that was designed to help control her blood sugar.
Over time, Missy’s health began to improve. Her blood sugar levels became more stable, and she began to gain weight and regain energy. She was even able to resume her favorite activities, like following me around and being curious about what I was doing.
Sadly, Missy passed away in 2018 as a happy cat. Though her diabetes is a serious condition, I learned how to manage it effectively and in time!
I gave Missy the care and attention she needs to live a comfortable and happy life because I learned to talk cat.
